Wow – Killed myself at the gym tonight. In an effort to get my speed up for the City Bay I (foolishly) told myself that if I could run intervals of 3 mins/2 mins @10k/hr on Sunday, surely I could run intervals of 4 mins/2 mins. After all – what’s in a minute! A HELL OF A LOT OF PAIN, HARDWORk, PANTING, SWEAT, HOT…….It was really hard, the first two minutes of each interval was ok, the 3rd, really pushing it and the 4th – bordering on death by treadmill! I had to lengthen a couple of my intervals just to be able to catch my breath. But being the annoyingly stubborn person that I am – I finished it to the end, including running @ 12k/hr for the last 30 secs. Covered 5 km in all, and came off the treadmill looking like a red lobster – I was so puffed!
On a good note – I had my second fitness test as I’m now 6 weeks into the fitness challenge. My fitness had improved but according to their scales, I’ve lost 5 kgs in 6 wks – WOOHOO. This is about7% of my bodyweight, and just about more than any of the weightloss teams have lost over the same period! Go team Lisa!
I also had a health check at work today – and my blood pressure was 102/65 which is nice and low and healthy – YES!
So not bad overall I’d say for one day – and yes, if you haven’t picked it up from my posts yet, I am obsessed with fitness!
